About Cytopeia :: Management
Ger van den Engh - President and CTO
Founder of Cytopeia. PhD in biophysics from Leiden University. Ger has a track record both in medical research (stem cell biology, chromosome structure, genome analysis) and instrumentation development (MoFlo, inFlux, 20+ patents). Ger has been active in flow cytometry and cell sorting research since the early days of its inception. In 1976 he worked with one of the first FACS system ever built at NIH in Bethesda. Since then Ger has led mixed teams of biologists and engineers at the notorious Radio Biological Institute in Rijswijk, the Netherlands, Los Alamos, Lawrence Livermore National Labs, the University of Washington and the Institute for Systems Biology. He holds a research professorship in the Department of Oceanography at the University of Washington.
Ger was recently the Davis Wright Tremaine Inventor in the Spotlight.
Willem Stokdijk – Director of Engineering
Willem worked with van den Engh in the Netherlands and at the Lawrence Livermore National Labs before coming backfull circle to work with van den Engh at Cytopeia in 2002. Previously, Willem held Director of Electrical Systems positions at several biotechnology companies including Becton Dickinson Biosciences, and Fluidigm Corporation. He shares patents with Ger van den Engh on one of Cytopeia’s key technologies and owns another on compensation for flow cytometry.
Brian Wadey – Director of Manufacturing
Co-Founder of Cytopeia. Brian has run manufacturing operations for nearly 20 years both in commercial and academic environments, from the aerospace industry to the University of Washington. Brian left the UW to join Ger as a founding member of Cytopeia and brings CNC, QA, prototyping and product development expertise to the organization.
Deborah Larson – Chief Operating Officer
Co-founder of Cytopeia. Deborah worked with Ger for many years, first at the University of Washington as a grant manager and department administrator before joining him in 2000 to help start Cytopeia. She brings tremendous operations, human resources, financial and facilities management expertise to Cytopeia.
Tim Petersen - Director of Research
Tim received a PhD in physics from the University of Washington, and an MS in electrical engineering from Rice University. He has spent nearly 20 years working with analytical instrumentation, both at the National Institute for Standards and Technology and at the Institute for Systems Biology, where he was in charge of the Cell Sorting Facility.
Brent Harrison - Lead Development Engineer
Brent has worked several years as an engineer at Cytopeia, and has been instrumental in developing many of the new technologies on the inFlux platform. Brent closely collaborates with Cytopeia customers to develop solutions for novel flow cytometry applications. In addition to these duties, Brent is also in charge of training programs for Cytopeia's line of instruments.
